Blueberry and raspberry fruit skewers arranged in an American Flag pattern

Want a low calorie Fourth of July dessert? Marshmallows, blueberries and raspberries on skewers! They will be tasty even if you don’t arrange them as compulsively as I did.

Patriotic Fruit and Marshmallow Sticks

Servings: 12
Calories: 127kcal

Equipment

  • 12 bamboo skewers

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 pint raspberries
  • ½ cup blueberries

Instructions

  • Thread the blueberries, raspberries and marshmallows onto the skewers in a patriotic pattern. I did the American flag, but you could make a different design.

Hello, world!

I’ve always liked cooking, but we used to eat crap a lot — like buttery mashed potatoes, creamy sauces and rich desserts. Then, my husband had a heart attack at age 38, and it was a terrifying wake-up call! Not wanting to leave our children fatherless, we knew we had to make a major change. Following his heart attack, we needed to cut sodium, sugar, saturated fats (you know, most of our favorite foods!)
